Book of the Week: There's a Wocket in My Pocket!
Suggested Activities:
• There's a Wocket in My Pocket! Book of the Week Ideas:
- This book is filled with rhyming words. Find pairs of rhyming words and place them into the following rhyme:
_____, _____, they both say _____. For example - Wocket, pocket, they both say -ocket.
- Instruct the child to draw an object. Then draw a character near the object. Name the character a non-sense word that rhymes with the object.
• Abraham & Sarah Want a Baby Preschool Bible Story Activities & Color Sheets:
- ABCJLM Bible Coloring Sheets: Abraham and the Stars
- Sing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star"
- Create Abraham's Star - Cut out the stars on cardstock paper and decorate. Cut on the dotted lines. Slide the cut portion of one star over the cut portion of the other to make a 3D Star. Add a string to hang. Discuss that stars reminded Abraham to be patient and wait on God to fulfill His promises.
- 100 Inch Yarn Star - Have your child help you measure and cut a 100" piece of yarn (yellow preferably). As you measure talk about Abraham's age when Isaac was born. Compare your child's height to the 100" piece of yarn. Using the Star Template, spread glue over the star. Wind the 100" piece of yarn over the star. Add the title "I will wait on God."
- Print the Abraham worksheet. Draw stars or add star stickers to the worksheet. Color Abraham.

Not asking the same question over and over

- Read: Remy the Rhino Learns Patience,
Let's Be Patient
• Shapes and Colors:
- Walk around the house with a flashlight pointing at items of different colors and shapes.
- Review and focus on any of the shapes and colors your child needs further practice on.
• Letter & Number Ideas:
Weeks 1-4 focus on "straight-line letters" - characters made with straight lines only. Start by creating the characters using short and long popsicle sticks and move to writing the characters on 1 1/2" tracing paper with yellow lines and green and red dots as a guide. Use the Straight-Line Characters worksheet to show the progression of the letters and numbers. Be sure to say the Letter Formation Chant or Number Rhyme as the child creates each character.
• Name:
Continue to have the child practice writing her name on 1 1/2" tracing paper. View Learning to Write to decide the appropriate level of difficulty to start for your child.
• Fine Motor Skills: 100 Years Old
To demonstrate the number 100 - pour out a pile of beans, coins, or chocolate chips. Count out ten groups of ten. When all of the groups are created, count each group by tens to 100. To make the activity personal, have the child count out an additional four beans (or the amount of beans to represent the child's age) as well as beans representing the ages of parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. On a piece of paper, have the child write his name and the number of beans to represent his age as well as other relatives. Then write "Abraham 100" to represent the 100 beans. (Thank you to Bonnie for sharing this additional activity.)
