Suggested Activities:

• Bible Story Activities:
- ABC Book:  Add a few dots of orange paint on the Home worksheet.  Allow child to drive a toy car through the paint and "park" it at the house.

• Color Activities:
Color TrainColor Train - Add an orange train to your Color Train by having the child color, with a jumbo crayon, the orange train.  Display the train at the child's level to point and discuss the colors.

• Shape Activities:
Coffee Filter Shape  For the next eight weeks of shape activities, the child will be creating Coffee-Filter Shapes.  Using a washable orange marker, draw a thick-lined triangle on a coffee filter.  Spray water on the filter which will cause the ink to bleed.  Let dry.

• Animal Activities:
- Using the Horse worksheet, point and count the horse's "feet."  Explain that they are called hooves.
- Bend a toilet paper roll into a triangle.  Dip it in orange paint and stamp it on the Horse worksheet.
- Find pictures of horses in the books that you read.
- A horse says "neigh."
- Allow the child to sit on your knees or leg and give the child a horsey ride.  You can sing following song as you bounce the child.

This is the Way We Ride
Tune:  Mulberry Bush
This is the way a lady rides, a lady rides, a lady rides (move the child slow and sing softly)
This is the way a lady rides so early in the morning.

This is the way a gentleman rides, a gentleman rides, a gentleman rides (move the child fast and sign loudly)
This is the way a gentleman rides so early in the morning.

• Book of the Week Ideas:
- Have fun with this book.  Get off the couch and do the dance!

• Fine Motor Skill:
Sorting Toy - As you play with the sorting toy, talk about the different colors and shapes.  To teach the child how the sorting toy works, hold the blocks above the correct slots and allow the child to push the block down.  Always allow the child as much opportunity to do the activity by themselves as possible.

• Gross Motor Skill:
Push Toy - Leaning on a laundry basket or push toy, allow the child (with assistance) to push the object around a safe room.
