TOPIC: A few questions

A few questions 1 year, 8 months ago #150

So I'm working on getting prepared to start the 4 year old curriculum on Monday - and I have a few questions:

*On the "I am learning" page "math" is listed as a box, but (at least in the first three lessons) I don't see any math lessons. Is this box also for colors? Is math included in the 4 year old curriculum (I hope, I hope)?

*How do you include the Visual Perception Worksheets? I see there is a box for them on the "I am learning" sheet, and links in week one, but which ones do I use when? There are quite a few.

*The books of the Bible listed, is this to memorize the order of the books of the bible (it appears to be). Is the old Testament included later in the year?

* Is reading clocks included in the curriculum? I've already started working with my son on this - just curious

*With the motor skills, is tying shoes or zippers/buttons included in curriculum - I've already started working with my son on this - just curious

Thanks!
Rosie

I love your excitement! I am going to answer the "author's" side of this question but I hope that some other moms/teachers will be able to pipe in on other ideas.

36 Week Table - This table will help answer a lot of your questions. You will see on this table as well as the others that not every concept is covered every week. You can also see what topics are covered throughout the entire curriculum.

If you want to see how the 4 Year Curriculum fits in with the other two curriculum, check out the Across the Curriculum Tables.

For the Visual Perception Worksheets - Start with one and see how your child does. Most of the worksheets process in difficulty. Most through them at your child's pace. Maybe start with one of each and see if your child struggles with any. Then you will see where you need to focus.

The Old Testament will be covered in the 5 Year Curriculum (coming Fall 2012).

Hope this helps! Momma C

I believe it was you that said you get giddy when you see spreadsheets ....The 36 week curriculum table is awesome - somehow that must have been the one page I haven't been on! Thanks for the info!

So here's a one more question, I have started the 4 year old curriuculum today, and I am working on trying to catch up to posted weeks, so we're in line for holidays. The recommended books like "Red, Red, Red" do they line up with the week's work, or are they more just for fun? My lovely neighbor is on the way to the library picking up my first weeks reserved books as we speak , so I will see them soon, but thought I'd get your thoughts on the matter.

Also, as a side note, along with learning the names of the Bible books, I will be using the "Wee Sing Bible Songs" New Testament song. It is a fun song(s) I learned as a kid, that I still sing to myself when I need to remember the order or find a certain book. There is a New Testament and Old Testament song. I don't have the recommended CD with the Bible Songs, but am finding many of them on my Wee Sing CD's (Wee Sing Bible Songs and Wee Sing More Bible Songs).

Blessings!

I try to make everything on the curriculum fit together like a glove but that doesn't always work. While it will make sense why some thing are together, others may require you to "think like me" or use your imagination! For me, it is more important to cover all the topics then to have a book or activity in just because it fits. The Books of the Week are chosen because they are books that are considered classics or are ones that are our (and other's families) favorites.

The chosen CD's were picked because they contained the majority of the songs used in this curriculum. But, many CD's contain these songs. Glad you found another one.

There are several OT and NT songs. I have listed on the Bible page - www.abcjesuslovesme.com/bible/719-teachi...e-books-of-the-bible

Hope this helps!
