Weekly Lesson Plans - 4 Year
The curriculum is divided into 36 weekly lessons plans (shown to the left). The weekly lesson plans are further broken into three categories: Items Needed, Objectives, and Suggested Activities. Lesson plans also include links to printables and further learning ideas. On average, every fourth week is a review week. Use this time to review concepts learned so far, do activities that time didn't allow to cover, or focus on a concept with which your child is struggling. Review weeks contain their own fine and gross motor skill activities. To further understand the lesson plan format, please read the 4 Year Curriculum Lesson Plan Overview.
Each lesson plan may be printed using the printer icon in top, right corner of the page. While the ABCJLM curriculum and worksheets are free online for family use, they are also available to order in book form. Ordering saves you time and the amount of money that it takes to print off each curriculum's lesson plans and worksheets. The curriculum is also available for your Kindle or a Kindle app.
The Curriculum was originally created to begin the end of August and finish the first of May. This schedule matches Bible themes and review weeks with the various holidays. In honesty, very few families, churches, and businesses follow this schedule because the curriculum is flexible enough to begin whenever it is convenient for you. Simply alter holiday activities when needed.
Matching the Curriculum with the Calendar and Holidays
If you would like to follow the fall-to-spring schedule, the chart below will help you determine the start date and match holidays. Understand that the calendar changes (especially Easter) so this schedule will need to be altered at times. (Fall 2013 is an example of that.)
While looking at a calendar you will find that a typical month covers five weeks including overlap from the month before and after. Using this concept, I have created a basic chart to help you determine a start date. For example, when looking at the month of August, the fourth row (Aug 4) on the calendar would correlate with Lesson #1.
By placing this timetable into the 2013 calendar, the 2013 Fall Schedule would begin Monday, August 26th. (This year begins a week later due to Thanksgiving and Christmas.)
