Quack Like a Duck

Make duck sounds and waddle around. Talk about how quack begins with /q/.

Hide paper Q’s around the room and let children find them.

Quiet Game

Practice being very quiet for 10 seconds and slowly increase the amount of time. When the time goes off say the /q/ sound together.

Quilt

Provide construction paper for the child to cut into various shapes. Then provide a large piece of paper for the child to glue the pieces to form a quilt.

Quick vs. Slow

Call out to the child either "quick" or slow and instruct the child to move around the room matching what you have called. When walking quickly, say the word "quick" like a duck says "quack." Call quick and slow opposite words.

Quarter Rub

Quarter Rubbings

Place a quarter under paper and rub with a crayon to reveal the design.

Dress up Clothes

Queen or King Dress-Up

Provide simple crowns and capes for pretend play. Emphasize that queen starts with q.
