As I read The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle, I immediately thought about the parable of the sower. Using the life cycle of a seed, this book could easily help further explain this parable.

Glue small seeds to the worksheet.
Plant Beans
Fill a plastic or Styrofoam cup 2/3 full with potting soil. Plant 2–3 beans. Cover the seeds gently with soil. Demonstrate how to moisten the soil with a water spray bottle. Be careful not to over water. Place in a windowsill for sunlight.
Other options include planting in a glass jar or plastic ziptop bag with cotton balls or paper towels. The glass jar allows the child to see the roots if the beans are planted along the sides.
