Hide a children’s Bible in the room and give the children clues to find it. Discuss how valuable and special the Bible is once they find it. You may also say a memory verse (above) when the Bible is found.
It’s important for children to learn how to care for a Bible since it’s God's words to us. Here are a few ways to take special care of a Bible:
For Family Use: Using the Candle Coloring Sheet, color and cut out the candle and flame. Paste onto a black piece of construction paper. Outline with glue and glitter along the edges of the flame and create lines around the flame (as on the coloring sheet). Add the verse "God's Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105"
Create personalized Bible bookmarks with the child’s name and a Bible verse (see above). Use stickers, ribbons, and markers to decorate. Place the bookmark in the child's Bible to know which story to read next.
For Family Use: Cut out two hearts using the Hide God's Word Template. Punch holes around the sides and lace the sides together. Write Psalm 119:11 on the heart. Cut out one Bible. Write “God’s Word” on it. Hide the Bible in the heart. Add a string so the child can wear the heart around his/her neck.
For Family Use: This craft is so much fun! Print and cut out the candle from the Candle Coloring Sheet, separating the candle and the flame. Color the pieces or cut them out using colored paper. Wrap a toilet paper roll in white paper and glue the candle onto the roll. Fold a long black pipe cleaner in half and place it inside the toilet paper roll. Attach the flame to one end of the pipe cleaner with tape, and fold the other end into the roll to secure it. When you move the candle, the flame will "bobble." Use this craft while singing "This Little Light of Mine," and let the child pretend to blow out the flame during the verse "Don't let Satan blow it out."
Are you ready to instill essential character traits in your children or students? Our 10-page Character Training Printable focuses on 20 key virtues like kindness, integrity, and wisdom. With definitions, opposite meanings, and Bible verses, it’s the perfect tool for guiding young hearts toward a strong moral foundation.
Provide simple costumes or props and have the children act out a Bible story like Noah’s Ark or David and Goliath. Discuss how all the stories in the Bible are true and from God.
God's Word is a "lamp to my feet and a light to my path" (Psalm 119:105). Since we don’t always know what is right or what lies ahead, we need God's Word to guide us. To demonstrate this, turn off all the lights at night and try walking around the house, pretending to bump into things. Halfway through, turn on a flashlight and show how it helps you see the objects around you, making it easier to find your way. Explain that God’s Word works like a flashlight, guiding us on the right path.
For Family Use: Print and decorate the Psalm 119:105 Light Worksheet.
For Family Use: Help the child understand Psalm 119:105 with the pictures on the Psalm 119:105 Worksheet. Decorate with craft supplies.
Cut out the Bible from the Black Book Poster. Tape the back of the Bible down in the middle of a white piece of construction paper. Using a sponge and black paint, cover the white sheet of paper. When finished carefully lift off the Bible. Let dry. Add the title "God Talks to Me Through the Bible."
